Bareilly: A Farmers’ Day programme was organized at the Vikas Bhavan Auditorium under the chairmanship of District Magistrate Avinash Singh, bringing together farmers, agricultural experts, and officials from various departments to discuss agricultural development, welfare schemes, and farmers’ concerns.
In his opening remarks, the District Magistrate encouraged farmers to adopt diversified farming practices alongside traditional agriculture. He advised cultivators to explore fruit and vegetable cultivation, fisheries, and poultry farming to enhance their income and strengthen their livelihoods.
During the meeting, the Assistant Director of Fisheries and the District Horticulture Officer were directed to organize awareness seminars at the Nyaya Panchayat level to promote modern agricultural and allied activities among farmers.
Deputy Director of Agriculture briefed the participants on natural farming, intercropping, and multi-layer farming techniques. Farmers were also informed about the process of booking seeds such as pulses, oilseeds, and paddy through the Agriculture Department’s online portal, along with details of subsidy schemes available to them. Officials appealed to beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme to complete their mandatory e-KYC process by June 30, 2026, to continue receiving benefits without interruption.
The Deputy Director also presented a point-wise report on the disposal of grievances raised during previous Farmers’ Day meetings.
Several farmers used the platform to highlight local issues and share their experiences. Farmer M.P. Singh from Khangawan Shyam village raised the issue of pending sugarcane payments for the 2024–25 season by Kesar Sugar Mill in Baheri. Another farmer, Dhaniram from Baheri, shared insights on organic farming practices, while Om Prakash from Hamirpur village in Bhojipura elaborated on natural farming techniques and their benefits.

Farmer Suresh, son of Narayan, reported problems related to electricity supply caused by issues with power poles in his locality. Taking immediate cognizance, the District Magistrate directed the Executive Engineer of the Electricity Distribution Division, Baheri, to resolve the matter and submit a compliance report.
Dr. Lakshya Yadav, Subject Matter Specialist at the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, IVRI Bareilly, provided technical guidance on pest and disease management, balanced use of chemical fertilizers, and the importance of regular soil testing for sustainable agricultural productivity.
The District Magistrate instructed all concerned departments to ensure prompt resolution of farmers’ grievances. He further directed that future Farmers’ Day meetings should begin with a review of pending complaints and the status of their disposal before taking up new issues.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks and a reaffirmation of the administration’s commitment to addressing farmers’ concerns through coordinated departmental action.
The event was attended by the Chief Development Officer, progressive farmers, and officials from the Agriculture, Fisheries, Electricity, Panchayati Raj, Horticulture, Tubewell, Sugarcane, and other related departments.
